It's the kind of movie you watch while cuddled up on the couch and you want to relax for one and half hours. It's no Oscar winner by any means but I enjoyed my time with it. Overall, My Favorite Martian was a fun ride. I can imagine a lot of it going over my head as a kid.

This movie is also chock full of sexual innuendo. Since Tim took the original but scaled-down spaceship with him. A little later, he witnesses the crashing of a small Martian spacecraft, realizing his one-time chance of delivering a story that will rock the earth. Even when Jeff Daniels tries to exploit the martian to further his own career, you know he's going to do the right thing at the end. News producer, Tim O’Hara gets himself fired for unwillingly compromising his bosses’ daughter during a live transmission. You know beat per beat what's going to happen. It's your typical fish out of water story with very few twists. In terms of downsides, the story is pretty predictable.
There's also some decent animatronics and costuming throughout as well! Still, some effects looked pretty wonky like when the alien ship grew in size. The martian's suit (voiced by Wayne Knight) still looks pretty impressive to me. The CGI is also pretty impressive for 1999. Think Doc Brown but cranked up to 11 on the looney-scale. Lloyd was also pretty zany as Martin the Martian.
Seeing Jeff Daniels be a news guy pre-Newsroom was pretty interesting and it was nice to see Elizabeth Hurley play it up as a villain. It has a good cast with Jeff Daniels, Christopher Lloyd, Elizabeth Hurley, Daryl Hannah, and Wallace Shawn. I never saw one episode of the show so I went into this movie with no expectations and came out entertained.ĭon't get me wrong, this movie is not perfect by any means, but from what I got, it was actually a fun time. Directed by Donald Petrie (Grump Old Men), this movie is based on the 60s TV show of the same name.
So I decided to watch a random movie on Disney+ and came across My Favorite Martian.
